I was just playing a game as the humans on challenging. Just the Torians, Dregin and I are left. Suddenly these space pirates show up which are fairly powerful. The problem is the game goes to a crashing halt as these pirates move. We're talking 7-8 minutes in between turns.

Very Basic System specs:
Athlon X2 64 2800
2 GB ram
GeForce 8600

Anything else I can do to help? I know this is a pretty minimal amount of information.

I believe you can turn off viewing 3rd party moves and turns from the game interface.

After the first week or two, there shouldn't be many ships remaining to blow up...unless there are invincible freighters out there. In that case....ick.

"fairly powerful"

Hahahaha

Pirate Frigate:
20 Hit Points
12 Beam attack
349 Ballistic defense!!!!

It's a pity all my worlds were garrisoned by ballistic based ships and got wiped out in one round. After that 1st round, the game, like Kingmob said, just kinda sat there. I let it wait for 15 minutes and no turn end.

Me thinks the pirates need to be toned down.

The pirates I fought had 350ish beam defense and I had a lot of ships with black hole guns and ultimate invulnerability. So if you weren't at the top of the tech tree with the right builds I could see how they'd suck very very bad.

The pirates are subject to the 'getting all the techs' bug. I had them show up in DA, and I actually had a mid-level starbase (all attacks 18, defense same) survive two fleets of small fighters before some frigates came and stomped it. The way they are now, that's just not possible.

Anyhow, remembering how many fleets spawned on the largest available map in DA, I'm sure it's possible that pirates on an immense map would totally choke my processor.
